Single Phase & Three Phase Transformer Testing at Site
Distribution Transformer Testing
Activity : As per Specification of Outdoor Type Oil Immersed Distribution Transformers upto and Including 2500 kVA, 33kV
What is Transformer Test:
For confirming the performances of a transformer at site it has to go through numbers of testing procedures.
It includes:
A) Visual Inspection:
   i) Oil Level Checking in Conservator,
   ii) Condition of Bushing,
iii) Terminations Connections on HV & LV Side,
   iv) Breather Examination,
   v) Oil & Winding Temperature Measurement,
B) Measurement of Insulation Resistance Test,
C) Measurement of Voltage Ratio & Check Phase Displacement Test,
D) Measurement of No Load Loss & Current,
E) Measurement of Short Circuit Impedance & Load Loss at 50% & 100% Load
F) Winding Resistance Test
G) Oil Break Down Voltage Test (In Lab)

Objective:
Normal periodic maintenance testing with good test results will keep us confident in our transformers.
1. It is important to regularly assess their functions to ensure continuous service.
2. It ensures that the transformers in operation are in its full capacity.
3. The practice of preventative maintenance can be aware of possible problems and take preventative action before damage has occurred.
4. Saving of human, apparatus life.

Negligence of Testing:
Any failure to the transformer can extremely affect the whole functioning of the organization. Any damage would be a loss of revenue and human life.
